I am trying to port some of my old plugins to latest VM, Joomla 4 and I have difficulties with couple of vmcustom plugins. The short version is, that the code I used to insert my needed code, namely something like this:

class plgVmCustomMyproduct extends vmCustomPlugin {
...
   function plgVmOnDisplayProductFEVM3($product,&$group) {
      vmdebug('myproduct: plgVmOnDisplayProductFEVM3 ');
....
   }

}

seems to not work. And I have no idea what I am doing wrong here.

  • Do you have your custom field assigned to the product?

  • yes. The plugin, as is now, first of all should show a debug message if VM Debug is on (I use this in ALL functions to see what's happening). The message is triggered elsewhere, but not for this function. Commented Apr 3 at 7:19
  • Double check that because the event is only triggered when rendering custom fields but only when product has plugin-based custom fields assigned. And it's triggered from a layout (sublayouts/customfield.php) so you should also check layout overrides.

  • It is installed on a pristine Joomla 4 with Cassiopeia, latest VM with the default demo data, plugin is active, and the custom field is added to the product. The plugin is properly start working - for example the construct function is also displaying the vmdebug message as should, and there are two other functions which are called on the process and those are also displaying their respective debug messages. And I am not a rookie, BTW, I have couple of VM extensions up on JED and code contributed to VM core too Commented Apr 4 at 9:29
