I wanted to use Bootstrap 5 carousel/sildeshow on my Joomla CMS v4.

I recently updated to Joomla 4 and the previous slideshow component isnt compatible so I am left with a load of articles which contain something like this:

 {besps}images/landscape/vida_address{/besps}

What I need to do is take this string (which is actually a path to the images) and make it into a slideshow.

Is there a way I can do this using PHP/Joomla overrides?

  • Hi - I'm about to start building something like this for one of my projects. I have built a content management component to administer my galleries, but I'll probably create a module for the front end. My set-up means I can pull in the gallery details from the database, but for your scenario I would use javascript and regex in the module template file to find your besps tags and extract the path from between them before building the slideshow HTML. Have you done any module development? I haven't worked with overrides so I can't say if that would be a better way of achieving this.
