I am using Joomla! 3.7.5 and JA Builder. I'm trying to create a block with custom module. Once I create it, paste code and assign position, then in page editor add block with widget - position and publish it - all is looking good.

My issue comes when I go again into editing mode - all I see are the images used in the module filling the whole page and nothing else. I click publish (hoping all will return to its rightful place, but alas I see that the whole page is messed up: header and footer, all content misaligned, and some of the images got big.

I'm not sure how to solve it. I tried a lot of stuff with no good result yet. Please advise if anyone has faced a similar occurrence.

  • @mickmackusa, thank you. But that did not change anything .. Still page gets messed up.. Block-module by itself looks okay, but header, footer and all margins - mess :( – Viktoriia Shestak Jun 19 at 15:41
  • If you are responding to my answer, please comment under the answer to be clear. As for your issue, please show us the generated source code of your saved/updated page containg the module. – mickmackusa Jun 19 at 20:41

After painstakingly retabbing your posted code from my phone, it appears your code has been wrapped in a <div></div> tag. Sometimes editors automate this to generate valid html, however, in your case, it has broken your code.

I recommend manually removing the leading <div>and trailing </div> to return things to normal.

Additionally, I find the backticks around your <svg> tags a little concerning -- I feel like they should be single quotes (apostrophes).

  • To my surprise, your html markup is valid. stackoverflow.com/q/13075502/2943403 I've never written code like this personally. @Viktoriia – mickmackusa Jun 20 at 11:35
  • And as I mentioned in my answer, I am not confident that those backticks will be treated as proper quotes. Are you getting any client-side errors? – mickmackusa Jun 20 at 11:41
  • no client-side errors. So whole page built with JA Builder and i try to put this code as a module or position in there.. so not sure how can i show you the code of whole page.. Weird what i have put one custom module on the page already and there was no problem with it, but this one just doesn't work. – Viktoriia Shestak Jun 20 at 13:23
  • Wow, it turns out that the backticking is also valid markup. stackoverflow.com/q/27678052/2943403 You can send me the generated source code via a link from pastebin. – mickmackusa Jun 20 at 19:27
