1

I'm trying to convert a relatively simple 1.5 Joomla template to work in a 3.x install. I followed the directions here: https://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_a_Template_from_Joomla_1.5_to_3.x but it's still not working. I converted these params in "params.ini" to the following in the "templateDetails.xml":

to

which seems to happen around these lines

if I remove this part, I still get another error:

There are a few errors within your template. Try the following which fixes them, uses HTML5 doctype and some other coding standard improvements:

  • Thanks, that got rid of the errors and the template now renders, although it's not functional, i.e can't enter any text in the search box, and clicking on any menu item to load an article results in a blank page (just the basic template with the menus)

  • Modules seem to display correctly as most of the features (search box is kinda missplaced and the font on an old menus component isn't working properly), but it's not showing any articles at all. I tried with a single article on the home page, or a module with the latest articles: empty (the module title shows up)

  • With the article not showing, perhaps you have the showComponent parameter for your template set to "No". If modules are misplaced then you need to fix your styling. Out of all honestly, I wouldn't port this over to Joomla 3.x.....I'd simply get a new template, or base a new template off the default Protostar one
